It has been 30 years since the first Toy Story movie debuted, launching the animation giant as a leading animation studio and bringing audiences to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a glimpse into the storyline but leaving fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys

In the teaser reveals Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a brand new toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer avoids is what the sheriff is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a carnival and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.

Certainly, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with him. And where is Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?

Connections from the Previous Film

Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act Woody did before departing for his new life was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the badge pinned to her shirt.

Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the group.
