Approximately 25,000 residences in southeastern Queensland found themselves lacking electricity on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms passed over the region, bringing powerful gusts reaching 109km/h.
Massive Hailstones and Widespread Impact
Residents witnessed giant hailstones as large as seven centimeters in certain regions. Weather authorities confirmed that various areas across the state had been impacted by significant hail.

At the same time, nearly 1,000 energy customers in Victoria also experienced energy failures after the metropolitan area saw its heaviest rainfall in 18 months.
Rescue organizations handled nearly 600 emergency reports across the state, mostly for property damage but also for downed trees and flooding.

Weather Forecast
Moist weather were expected to linger along much of the state's eastern regions this coming days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the coast.
The following day was expected to become the wettest day, with continued storm activity expected across multiple regions of both regions.
Medical Alert
Medical authorities cautioned that there was an greater possibility of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, especially given the current weather patterns.
This caution comes after previous incidents where similar conditions led to major medical consequences in the area.
